Today the group got to participate in a few service projects for the villages of Bomani & Vipingo. This is when the team got their hands and feet dirty showing the love of God to others. The majority of the team split into two groups. One group helped build a mud hut for a family in Vipingo, while the other hung mosquito nets in houses in Bomani. The family in Vipingo was glad of the help to rebuild their home, while the families in Bomani were very appreciative of the gift that can literally be the difference between life and death here, where malaria is a constant threat. After lunch at the schools, a little final play time with the kids, and some hard goodbyes, most members of those two groups switched places to help out in the other project. While the team members hung the mosquito nets in Bomani, some of the pastors and teachers from the New Life Center at Bomani went with the team to share the Gospel with the people receiving the nets. We were blessed to witness a dozen people receive the good news and come to Christ today through this ministry. God is good! While these two service projects were taking place, a few other members of the team took individual photos of the students at both schools with their name and grade level. The day finished with a little shopping. The Shanzu Transitional Workshop is a shop in which handicapped Kenyan women work making all sorts of bags. It was very interesting to see the women working on these purses, laptop bags, wallets, and more as we walked into the store. The bags were beautiful and very well made, so many of our team members were able to help these women by purchasing their wares. |
